Genshi-yaki and sushi are the two pillars, with dashi-based dishes and a selection of renowned sake from across the country.
In an izakaya-style focused on two pillars of food — genshiyaki (primitive-style charcoal grilling) and sushi — we boldly grill carefully selected ingredients, seasonal vegetables, and fresh fish from all over the country over charcoal. Dashi-based dishes such as white liver sashimi, mackerel stick sushi, and rolled omelet with cod roe are also reputed to be superb, and the appealing beverage selection that complements the cuisine ranges from about 30 varieties of sake from across Japan to craft beer and natural wine.
A robata counter with a 180-degree view of the charcoal grill, a chic hideaway space for adults
The standalone house tucked into a back alley of Dogenzaka features a calm black-themed interior and skillful lighting that creates the feeling of a “cool adult hideaway.” In a live-kitchen style you can survey the charcoal-cooking scene a full 180 degrees across the counter, and despite its casual appearance, attentive hospitality—such as preparing a welcome paper with the guest’s name for phone inquiries—shines through, reminiscent of a small traditional Japanese eatery.
A thriving izakaya originating in Shibuya, created by H VIEW, founded in 2017.
H VIEW Co., Ltd. opened the sake bar Mr. Happy as its founding store in 2017. Over the following seven years it expanded its group businesses into restaurants, beauty, and yoga studios, operating ten restaurant locations alone. In November 2023 it opened Charcoal Grill Lily Shibuya and recorded monthly sales of ¥11,000,000 in its first month, and its momentum has not stopped, with a Shinjuku location opening in October 2024.
Kaoru Enomoto
Mr. Enomoto, director and executive head chef of H VIEW Co., Ltd., oversees the cuisine and has raised customer satisfaction with his original method called "Jab 100 Rapid-Fire," which plants small surprises throughout the menu. By combining precise charcoal grilling with a delicate use of dashi and designing dishes that naturally encourage sake drinking, he has created many repeat customers.
